HydeThis is my score for a game called “Hyde” which was written, designed, and is still being worked on by a group of my friends living in Santa Cruz. It’s a futuristic side scroller, made with heavy influence from 8-bit and 16-bit art styles. The game focuses on an alien cop on another planet, who is trying to investigate his father’s death and finds himself uncovering a deep line of corruption in the police force he works for. This was an interesting project from my end, because the whole concept was started at the UCSC “hackathon” competition, where teams of UCSC students can enter, and have two days to write some sort of code or software, which will be presented to judges at the end. A group of my friends entered this year while I was living in LA. They spent a day not sure what they were going to do at all, and on the last day of the competition, they settled on making a video game. Shortly after, I received a call asking if I could do “a couple songs” for them. I accepted and got to work, but the storyline and scope of this game turned out to warrant more than just a couple of songs. I ended up spending the whole day working, but I got them a full soundtrack and complimentary sound effects. The game wasn’t finished in this window, but they are still working on it and hopefully it will be finished soon.
